Conklin Fired, Pirro Quits CNY SPCA

Mattydale, N.Y. – The CNY SPCA is now dealing with two big losses after their board meeting last night.

The board of the embattled pet shelter in Mattydale officially voted to fire executive director Kerrin Conklin Wednesday night. Conklin received a phone call informing her of her termination from interim board chair, and Onondaga County Legislator, Monica Williams while sitting in her car outside of the shelter surrounded by reporters.

Conklin's departure isn't the only one. Former Onondaga County Executive Nick Pirro also resigned his position as a board member of the CNY SPCA. Pirro served as the public face and the interim-director of the organization after the previous director, Paul Morgan, orchestrated a scheme that stole $900,000 from the shelter to fuel his gambling habit.

Conklin had been hired to replace Morgan.
