Tropper Killed, Fort Drum Soldier Arrested after deadly domestic

Theresa, N.Y. - A State Trooper has been shot dead by a Fort Drum soldier after he responded to a Domestic Dispute last night in Jefferson County.

Trooper Joel Davis was shot once and killed as he approached a home on County Route 46 in the Town of Theresa by active duty Army infantryman Justin Walters. Troopers say that a Walter’s wife Nichole was also found dead at the home. 

"The entire New York family grieves today for Trooper Joel Davis," says Gov. Andrew Cuomo in a statement. "I ask all New Yorkers to keep Trooper Davis' family, loved ones and colleagues in the state police in their prayers during this incredibly difficult time."

Trooper Davis lived in Evans Mills with his wife and three children. 

Walters, surrendered and was taken into custody. He is now facing first and second degree murder charges
