Liedka will not seek Re-Election to County Legislature

Legislator Danny Liedka

East Syracuse, N.Y. – Onondaga County Legislator and former East Syracuse Mayor Danny Liedka is leaving politics.

Paperwork has been filed the Onondaga County Board of Elections indicating that Liedka will not be on the ballot this November.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to take a promotion with my company and it’s a promotion that will help me take care of my family moving forward,” says Liedka. “Also, my kids are nine, five, and two, and it’s really time to step up and spend more time with the family.”

Liedka says that Politics was never meant to be a career for him and that he was motivated by his desire to help others. He says that he is most proud of his work for Veterans in establishing the legal clinic at Syracuse University that helps veterans receive their benefits more expeditiously.

Liedka served two terms as a Village Trustee in East Syracuse before being Elected Mayor in 2007.  In 2011 he was elected to the County Legislature where he has been representing the 7th District which includes portions of the Town of DeWitt and the City of Syracuse.

Local Football and Basketball fans my know Liedka as the on-air color commentator for the Spectrum Cable Sports Channel as well as his time hosting the SU Pre and Post game shows on NewsRadio 570 WSYR with the late Joe Galuski.
