Skaneateles, N.Y. - Skaneateles Lake is now being plagued by dangerous blue-green algae blooms, but it isn’t a danger to the drinking water.
City Officials say that a bloom recently found in the lake, which provides water to the City of Syracuse, is not risk a health concern.
Pondscum can cause vomiting and diarrhea if it is swallowed and could kill your pets. Department of Environmental Conservation data shows this is the first instance of blue-green algae in Skaneateles Lake since 2011.
