4.5 Million Returned to Unemployment Coffers

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced today that the state along with local DA's have recouped a record high amount of fraudulent Unemployment benefits,  4 .5 million in fact.

Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick says going after fraud and theft of taxpayer money has always been a priority for him. Fitzpatrick said this is another example of how working together with the state, in this case the Department of Labor, can ferret out those who take advantage of the system.

Onondaga County returned more than $180,000 dollars.

The county with the highest return was Erie County with over $477,000.
