CNY Nursing Home Names Interim Administrator

A Central New York nursing home has replaced their administrator as the facility deals with a growing number of complaints from patients and families.

Van Duyn Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing has appointed Dan Detor as interim administrator, replacing Pat Deptula.  Detor will run the home while a national search for a permanent administrator is undertaken. Van Duyn has been beset with complaints about neglect, such as residents left in soiled diapers, uncleaned rooms, and a lack of action from staff when presented with issues.  The state Department of health reports Van Duyn has 83 health violations in less than four years, which compares to a statewide average of 21.
