Sheldon Silver's Sentencing Today

New York - Former New York State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver will be sentenced on corruption charges in a Manhattan courtroom today.

Prosecutors are seeking a decade behind bars while Silver's defense team is hoping for community service.

In May, Silver was convicted of several felonies connected to schemes where he accepted bribes in exchange for political favors.  In a letter to the judge, Silver says he is deeply sorry and prays he will not die in jail.
