GOP Leaders Meet To Discuss 27th Congressional District Race

Batavia, N.Y. - Republican leaders in the 27th Congressional District met in Batavia to talk about who could replace Congressman Chris Collins on the ballot.

Collins suspended his re-election bid last weekend after being arrested on federal insider trading charges.

There are more than a dozen people who have expressed interest in running for the seat, but none of them were invited to last night's meeting. The Erie County GOP Chairman Nick Langworthy says he and the seven other county chairs will be interviewing possible candidates next week.

Whoever is selected faces Democratic Grand Island Town Supervisor Nate McMurray in November.
