Syracuse Police Identify 12 Year Old Shot And Killed

Syracuse, N.Y. -  Last night around 9:30 Syracuse Police Officers responded to area of Park Street and E. Division Street in regards to a shooting call. While Officers were enroute to the scene, they were told the victim was being taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in a personal vehicle. 

A short time later the victim, 12 year old , James Springer III, arrived at St. Joseph’s Hospital with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was transferred to Upstate University Hospital where he underwent surgery. Springer died of his injuries around 3:00 AM.     

A 33 year old female also suffered a minor gunshot wound to her abdomen in this incident she was treated at a hospital. Her injury was not threatening.

The investigation revealed that the victims were in the 100 block of John Street when they were shot. 

Officers and Detectives are currently investigating this incident.There is no suspect information at this time.
