Syracuse's Blue Rock Energy Sells Portion Of Biz, Changes Focus

Syracuse , N.Y. - Syracuse-based BlueRock Energy has sold its electric and natural gas business to Marathon Energy . BlueRock will still but says it will continue to stay in business just now they will be focusing on solar energy and providing energy services, such as LED lighting, building controls and HVAC upgrades.

Blue Rock sold all its electric and natural gas customer contracts in New York and some in New Jersey and Pennsylvania to an energy supply company called  Marathon Energy, of the Woodside section of Queens. 

 BlueRock CEO Phil VanHorne said Governor Andrew Cuomo has set a goal of the state meeting 50 percent of its energy needs with renewable energy by 2030. VanHorne said that has created a major opportunity.
