President Trump Said He Has Finished Answering Questions In Mueller Probe

U.S. President Donald Trump speaks during a signing of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Act in the Oval Office of the White House

President Donald Trump told members of the press that he has finished responding to written questions from Special Counsel Robert Mueller relating to his investigation in collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government during the lead-up to the 2016 presidential election.

“I was asked a series of questions. I've answered them very easily, very easily," Trump said inside the Oval Office on Friday (November 16). "The questions were very routinely answered by me."

The president pointed out that he had to be careful with how he answered the questions because they were written by "people who probably have bad intentions."

"I'm sure they are tricked up, because, you know, they liked to catch people: 'Gee, was the weather sunny or was it rainy? He said it might have been a good day, it was rainy, therefore he told a lie. He perjured himself.'"

Trump spent hours meeting with his lawyers over the past week going over the questions but assured the press that he wrote the answers himself, not his lawyers.

Trump said that he has not submitted the answers yet and did not say when he intends to do so.
