Kate Houck, Executive Director of David's Refuge

Kate Houck is the Executive Director of David’s Refuge, a CNY-based non-profit organization that provides respite programs and support  for caregivers of children with special needs or those with life threatening illness so that they can return to their families refreshed and refocused.

Kate joined the David’s Refuge team in January 2015 as their Development Director and was promoted to Executive Director in May 2016. Previously, she served for 10 years in various roles including Executive Director and Regional Coordinator for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) of Central New York.

In her role, Kate plans to continue to provide vital services to the families that are served by David’s Refuge. Kate particularly enjoys utilizing her skills to connect people, build awareness and cultivate new relationships that will bring awareness to the cause. When asked about her vision for the future, Kate said, “David’s Refuge is a much needed resource in our community. I plan to be a part of a long and successful future of providing care and support to families on the journey of raising children with special needs.”

Kate received magna cum laude honors while earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication from Cortland State University.  She lives in Fayetteville, NY with her husband, Paul, and two children. She is devoted to her family and friends, is an avid runner and enjoys the gardening and being outdoors.
