Herkimer, N.Y. - A former NYS Thruway Toll Collector was arrested by State Police on Grand Larceny charges.
Troopers arrested 32 year old David E. Hidalgo, from Herkimer for Grand Larceny 4th degree (E-felony), Offering a False Instrument for Filing 1st degree (E-felony) and Petit Larceny (A-misdemeanor).
Hidalgo is accused of stealing $3,642 from the New York State Thruway Authority while he was employed as a toll collector from June through November of 2018.
The theft was discovered during an audit of tolls conducted by the Thruway Authority.
Hidalgo is in jail in lieu of bail and is scheduled to appear in the village of Herkimer Court Monday.
