Florida Man Sentenced to 18 1/2 Years For Selling Guns In Syracuse

Syracuse, N.Y. - A Florida man was sentenced to 18 1/2 years for guns in Syracuse. Many of those guns were high-capacity weapons.

35 year old Victor Vazquez Melendez, of St. Cloud, had faced up to 40 years in prison. Supreme Court Justice Gordon Cuffy instead settled on the 18 1/2 years, including 3 1/2 years for possession of the guns and 15 years for selling them.

Several of the guns were loaded and at least five had more that 10 rounds in them.

Defense lawyer Paul Carey was puzzled by the verdict, because there were no actual witnesses to the crime.
