Schumer Pushes For Sanctions Against China As Trade Talks Continue

New York - New York Senator Chuck Schumer is proposing legislation to combat the powerful opioid fentanyl.

The drug is considered many times stronger than heroin and has been linked to overdoses. The New York Democrat is pushing a bill that would put sanctions on China. The Fentanyl Sanctions Act would also call on foreign drug traffickers to be identified and banned from using American banks.

The U.S. and China are currently negotiating a trade deal and trying to reach an agreement by early next month.
