Oneida School District Considers Eliminating HS Principal Position

The Oneida City School District may decide to eliminate the position of high school principal in favor of an executive K through 12 principal supervising all grades in the district.

A discussion of the proposal at Wednesday night's board meeting included students and parents opposed to the idea. Parents worried it would hurt their children and maybe make them consider leaving the school. In a statement, District superintendent Mary-Margaret Zehr applauded students making the effort to have their voices heard. Zehr also cautioned that rumors were circulating about the proposal, urging the community to read the entire proposal. The board meets again for further discussion on March 12.
