Syracuse University Student Being Treated For Tuberculosis

Syracuse, N.Y. - Syracuse University officials say a student is being treated for tuberculosis.

The school's medical director says it's not clear how the student got the disease. The student does live off-campus.

Tuberculosis is a bacteria that can spread through the air. The most obvious symptom is a cough that last for several weeks that produces blood. Other symptoms include weakness, weight loss, fever and night sweats.

TB is prevented with a vaccine.
