Fort Ontario Honors Holocaust Refugees Today

Oswego, N.Y. - Fort Ontario is celebrating the nearly 1,000 Holocaust refugees that came to Oswego 75-years-ago today.

The historic fort was the only site in the U.S. that housed refugees from the Holocaust. 20 of the surviving 982 refugees and their families will be honored with a ceremony at 2:00 p.m.

Paul Lear, the Historic Site Manager at Fort Ontario, gives a preview about the ceremony Monday and how it happened that the only Holocaust refugees settled in the U.S. were settled here in Central New York:
