Aerial Spraying In Oswego County Cancelled For Tonight

Oswego, N.Y. - Aerial spraying of the Toad Harbor area in Oswego County is cancelled this evening, due to weather conditions.

Weather permitting, aerial spraying will take place Sunday, Aug. 18, between 6 and 9 p.m.

Residents within the aerial spray zone will be notified of the aerial spraying by the Hyper-Reach Broadcast Notification Service through Oswego County’s E-9-1-1 Emergency Communications Department.

So far this summer 15 samples of mosquitoes collected from the towns of West Monroe, Hastings and Constantia have tested positive for Triple E.

Test have confirmed that a horse in the town of West Monroe has died from Eastern equine encephalitis or the Triple E virus according to the Oswego County Health Department

A horse cannot transmit Triple E to a person, but infected mosquitoes pose a risk to both humans and horses. A vaccine is available for horses and owners are encouraged to get it.
