The Final Steel Gantry Of The Cashless Tolling System In NY Is In Place.

Albany, N.Y. - The final of 70 steel gantries, those are those big steel structures that span the roadway holding the cashless tolling devices, has been erected.

The gantry located on I-90 at exit 42 (Geneva) was the final one. The $355 million project is so far right on schedule and on budget.

Once completed the thruway will be totally cashless. Governor Cuomo said. "With upgrades like this, we are ushering in a new modern era for traveling across this state which will benefit motorists for decades to come." Crews are now installing cashless tolling equipment on the gantries, which include state-of-the-art sensors and cameras that read E-ZPass tags and take license plate images.

Motorists are encouraged to sign up for EZPASS which will be the most convienent way to pay tolls in the future.
