Oneida County Police Agencies Warn Of Dangerous Opioid

Utica, N.Y. -The Oneida County Overdose Response Team is issuing a warning about yet another dangerous drug, Carfentanil.

Carfentanil is a man-made opioid that is 10,000 times more potent than morphine and 100 times more potent than fentanyl.It is used to tranquilize large animals like elephants. A dose the size of a grain of salt can be fatal.

The Task Force says its is lethal even to handle it and thus the warning to people who use drugs along with first responders and other providers.

Carfentanil overdoes in many cases are not reversible with multiple doses of Narcan.

Its an odorless, white powdery substance that looks much like heroin or cocaine.
