Cuomo Administration Under Fire For Nursing Home Cover-Up

The Cuomo administration is under fire following the release of a phone conversation regarding nursing home deaths.

Secretary to the Governor Melissa DeRosa's conversation with Democratic leaders revealed that the administration "froze up" when they realized the true number of deaths that occurred during the coronavirus pandemic. DeRosa continued, saying that they covered up the data out of fear that former President Trump would have the Department of Justice to investigate.

Criticism has been swift from members of both parties.

Assembly Health Committee Chairman Richard Gottfried said he did not give DeRosa's explanation "any credit at all."

State Senate Republican leader Rob Ortt calls concealing the numbers "a gross obstruction of justice." Ortt is calling for an investigation and says Govenor Cuomo should be stripped of his emergency powers.

North Country Congresswoman Elise Stefanik is also calling for Cuomo's prosecution.
