A man who was believed to be an associate of the Bonanno crime family was shot and killed in his car while he waited for his food at a Mcdonald's drive-thru in New York City. Sylvester Zottola was shot five times by an unidentified man wearing a black hoodie. He was shot three times in the chest, once in his shoulder and once in his head.
This was not the first attempt on Zottola's life. The 71-year-old was stabbed in the neck while confronting a trio of burglars in his home last December and in June he opened fire on a man who had pulled a gun on him. In July, his son survived a brazen drive-by shooting in broad daylight in the Bronx.
Police have not identified the person who killed Zottola. Witnesses claim to have seen him fleeing the scene in a gray Acura. Investigators are digging through surveillance camera footage in the area, hoping to track down the vehicle.
